What is Skate It Forward?

Skate It Forward is a hockey skills challenge featuring four skilled lesson and hockey skills challenge with Lee Harris, skating consultant for the Columbus Blue Jackets and a surprise coach! Hockey players in full gear maneuver through an obstacle course demonstrating skating expertise and hockey ability. Best in division scores an award as all hockey levels are welcome.

Hosted by The Skating Club of Central Ohio in partnership with OhioHealth Chiller Ice Rinks, Skate It Forward combines the love of our sport with a desire to help families through Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio.

How can I participate?

Hockey players can register by clicking on the hockey skates above and pay a non-refundable, non-tax deductible $150 registration fee by Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Personal participant pages can be created online to raise funds ($350 minimum per participant) to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. Family and friends can visit a participant’s page and make donations online with a credit card. Check donations should be payable to Ronald McDonald House Charities and can be mailed to 711 E Livingston Ave, Columbus, OH 43205 ATTN: Alexis Donahue.

  • Saturday, May 4, 2019 – Chiller North
    • 9:50 am to 10:50 am – On ice skills session with Lee Harris
    • 10:50 am to 11:15 am – Player change out of hockey equipment
    • 11:15 am to 12:00 pm – Off ice conditioning with Megan McKinley
  • Sunday, May 19, 2019 – Chiller Easton
    • 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm – Off ice conditioning with Megan McKinley
    • 2:45 pm to 3:00 pm – Player change into hockey equipment
    • 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm – On ice skills session with Lee Harris
  • Sunday, June 2, 2019 – Chiller Easton
    • 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm – Off ice conditioning with Megan McKinley
    • 2:45 pm to 3:00 pm – Player change into hockey equipment
    • 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm – On ice skills session with Lee Harris
  • Sunday, June 9, 2019 – Chiller Easton
    • 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm – Off ice conditioning with Megan McKinley
      2:45 pm to 3:00 pm – Player change into hockey equipment
      3:00 pm to 4:00 pm – On ice skills session with Lee Harris

Hockey Skills Challenge Date:

  • Saturday, June 22, 2019 – OhioHealth Ice Haus
    • 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm – On ice skills competition
    • 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm – After skills party

What does my non-refundable registration fee cover?

  • On ice hockey skills lessons with Lee Harris (skating consultant) and surprise guest (May 4 at Chiller North, May 19 and June 2 at Easton and June 9 at OhioHealth Ice Haus).
  • 45 minute off ice conditioning/yoga session with Megan McKinley
  • Hockey 24/7 travel hockey case
  • Exclusive after skills party
